Make Marion a Regional Magnet for Entrepreneurial Activity
To promote the startup and expansion of Small Businesses in Marion, by providing training and mentorship to entrepreneurs.
What We Do
Marion Technical College is delivering a business course in five parts to participants in The Forge’s business accelerator program. The fifteen hour course covers development of a business plan, developing a cash flow projection, financing a business, business record keeping, and marketing and advertising.
These free classes are made possible by generous contributions from community sponsors to The Forge.
The Alber Enterprise Center at The Ohio State University Marion campus and the new Marion Entrepreneurship Council are jointly committed to ensuring that the businesses that enter The Forge’s accelerator program are paired with a business mentor.
A mentor relationship is important for a new business as the owners feel out their position in the marketplace and begin the push towards growth and success.
The Marion Area Chamber of Commerce and the Marion Young Professionals are two support networks for new businesses in The Forge’s accelerator program. It is essential that new businesses make connections in the community, to get the word out, to show off their unique services, and to generate initial revenue for the business.
